Rolf,
born in Meschede, Germany came to Lake Placid in 1968. He is a self-taught
photographer having carried a camera since age 10. The color photographic
works of Schulte have captured the true character of the Adirondacks for
many years. His ability and creative talent have developed a style unique
in artistic photography. He is famous for his tedious attention to fine
detail in tight, intimate photographic studies and his ability to cast vast
panoramic scenery in perfect light and perspective.
Working in color Schulte may return to the subject area dozens of times
and wait for several hours until the light, reflections and conditions are
perfect. This type of patience has won Mr. Schulte the praise of galleries,
critics and publishers throughout the region. His work has been exhibited
across the Northeast and has appeared in popular Adirondack publications
for many years. Rolfs photography can also be found on numerous popular
European magazines.
Rolf has also travelled around the world in the 1950's. We feature some of his early work here.
